A complete revision is recommended every 3 to 5 years, this may vary depending on the use of the watch. After overhaul, Tavannes Watch Co guarantees 12 months for all interventions made and for all components replaced during a complete overhaul.
After diagnosis:
If the movement no longer functions normally, a complete overhaul is recommended, it comprises the following operations:
– Disassembly of the watch
– Complete overhaul of the movement: disassembly, cleaning, replacement of used components, reassembly, and lubrication
– Brightening of the case, of the metal bracelet for steel or gold watches
– Ultrasonic cleaning of the case and metal bracelet
– Reassembly of the case and installation of new gaskets
– Component replacements if necessary
Chronograph hands and steel screws
Other hands, crystal, crown, pushers, dial, etc. (not included)
– Watch reassembly
– Final technical and aesthetic controls
The gaskets of a watch naturally can degrade over time. They can also be affected by perspiration, shocks, the use of cosmetics, temperature variations as well as frequent use of the crown. The water resistance of the watch is therefore not guaranteed for life.
It is recommended to check the water resistance of a watch every year and to carry out this operation as soon as the watch is no longer water resistant.
During a waterproofing service, Tavannes Watch Co guarantees 12 months for all interventions made and for all components replaced.
If the watch is no longer waterproof, the following operations are necessary:
– Disassembly of the case
– Ultrasonic cleaning of the case and the metal bracelet
– Reassembly of the case with installation of new gaskets
– Battery replacement for quartz models
– Replacement of other components if necessary: crystal, crown, pushers … (not included)
– Final technical and aesthetic controls
For vintage models, a revision may not be sufficient, sometimes a restoration is necessary. The time for a restoration will be longer than a standard overhaul (10 weeks minimum).
After the restoration of a vintage watch, Tavannes Watch Co offers a 12 months warranty for all interventions made and for all components replaced.
If the diagnosis confirms that the battery is low (battery change every 3 to 6 years) and that the gaskets and the movement are in good condition, the watchmaker will change the battery by performing the following steps:
– Back opening
– Battery replacement
– Replacement of the back and crown tube gaskets
– Back closure
– Final technical and aesthetic control
