Tavannes, June 17, 2020 – Tavannes Watch Co has finalized its partnership with the Swiss professional sailing team Black Star Sailing Team, which competes in GC32. The values of excellence, innovation, competition and training for young people united the two family businesses.
The Submarine 1917 was chosen to be worn by the entire crew. It reflects the pioneering spirit of the brand – the first waterproof watch issued to officers commanding English submarines during the First World War – and is particularly suited to the constraints of a sailing competition.
Black Star Sailing Team has temporarily left its home port of Brunnen / SZ to go to Lagos in Portugal to challenge opponents such as Alinghi or Red Bull Sailing Team, in a competition where the “flying” catamarans GC32, l one of the fastest one-designs in the world, compete in very high level regattas.
The watchmaker from Tavannes and the Black Star sailing Team intend to create a partnership over several years and jointly develop products, in particular making it possible to reuse the used sails of the catamaran in products specific to the brand.
